The place: The Lexington Hotel Penthouse Suite

The details: They had been driving around aimlessly for an hour. GPS had failed them. Google Maps had failed them, too. In our Information Age, it had yet to dawn on Josh and Alexis to call the Lexington and find out exactly how to get there. They were in Phoenix for their friend's birthday festivities, which happened to coincide with Halloween weekend. Alexis was getting flustered; her nature and desire for structure and organization and sticking to a plan was not coming to fruition. Josh grabbed her hand, and then his cell phone and discovered that they were just a few minutes away from the hotel all along.

The room was big and quaint at the same time. They had a balcony that overlooked the brightly-lit Phoenix skyline, and for some reason Josh was concerned about the lighting outside. But what wowed Alexis the most was the gigantic bathtub. She quickly hopped in and ran a hot bath. She wondered why Josh wouldn't sit still, why he kept making small talk and pacing in and out of the bathroom while she shaved her legs and prepped herself for a night on the town.

Once Alexis was out of the bath and wrapped up in a towel, Josh asked her to come back outside on the balcony.

"Right now???"

"Yes, it's fine!"

She was confused, but she obliged. She stepped on the balcony and discovered a lamp had been placed outside. They stared once again at the skyline, at the twinkling lights and outline of tall downtown buildings. They listened to the quiet sound of cars passing by. Josh put his arm around Alexis and kissed her.

"Well," he said. "I was going to wait.....but I can't."

He got down on bended knee.

"Alexis, will you marry me?"

"Are you serious?"

"Yes."

"No, seriously, are you serious?"

"Yes, I am serious."

"Yes! Yes I will marry you!"

And the rest, as they too often say, is history.
